** October NEWSLETTER 2015
Looks like Spring…
or is it Summer knocking on our door?
** Hello Mullumbimby Community Garden Community!
I’m putting together this month’s newsleter from the ‘big smoke’ where it is scorching Summer weather one day and Winter the next! I know the fruit trees in the community gardens are being productive because I collected a small container of ripening mulberries and raspberries just before I drove to Sydney last week. They survuved the overnight drive, as did I (supervising my 18 year old learner for some of the trip reminds one of the slogan “Survive this Drive”). The mulberries transformed a delicious vanilla cheesecake into something special. It has gone down well with my hosts!
What’s your favourite recipe for spring produce? What do your children like to cook – or pretend to cook in their play?
Being out of town for a couple of weeks I am missing seeing how the volunteers are enjoying their Tuesday lunches, the energy that comes from the fantastic MCG team, the smell of the earth after the first thunderstorm of the season and the happy smiles on the children’s faces as they explore the playground’s strawberry patch while their parents chat over a cup of chai, tea or coffee.
Continuing the transformations are new ‘Food For All’ plot number signs, an upgraded ramp to the toilets, footing work for the commercial kitchen as part of the rotunda extension, and the new office building – yay! There are also great fundraising ideas and activities happening with all details below.
** Happy Spring gardening ~ Alexandra (Ed.)
Note: Mullumbimby Community Gardens is also on Facebook:
Mullum SEED AGM postponed until 25th November,

Change and re-save the date!
Have you considered being on the Mullum SEED board committee?
Now is the time to think about it and nominate!

** CHILDREN’S GARDEN
The children’s garden bamboo shelter play kitchen
is ready for the kids to practice their cooking skills…
Mud pies anyone?
*Please remember the children’s play area is a dog-free area.
** THE NEW OFFICE… is progressing nicely!
** Catherine is looking forward to the completion of the new office…This is where she’ll be 4 days a week from 9am to 1.30pm to answer your questions, take membership and allotment payments, provide you with forms and paperwork if you need it, direct volunteers to the daily supervisors and generally be the friendly face of the gardens for visitors.
** Reminder: Membership and Allotment Fees
Membership and Allotment fee’s are one of the few stable revenues that help the gardens continue to function. Yes, we greatly appreciate your volunteer work too of course, but we would LOVE you to join (or renew) your membership and annual allotment fee’s on time as this reduces paper work for the volunteers behind the scenes 🙂
The best and easiest way to do this is online here:
Thank you for your continued support, we cannot exist without it
