Dear Garden members, friends and volunteers,
This is a special announcement from Paulette Bray- Narai of an amazing, one off opportunity to attend and spread the word of this Non Violent Conflict Resolution workshop “Restorative Circles”. Great for anyone living or working on a communal piece of land, or working on a communal project, where constructive non violent communication is essential. Please read and forward to friends and check out the flier attached.
Dorset and I are delighted to present a rare opportunity to attend a one day event presented by a visiting American CNVC trainer, Karl Steayert, on Restorative Circles.
This introduction to Restorative Circles will be held at Songline, 4 Buckleys Rd., Tyagarah from 9am-5pm on Wednesday March 4th.
Karl Steayert is a Community Catalyst. He is passionate about co-creating learning experiences and communities that contribute to peace, justice, and sustainability. A certified trainer in Nonviolent Communication (NVC), he has over 20 years experience in facilitating international groups – from universities to eco-villages.
The creator of Restorative Circles, Dominic Barter, trained him in this approach to Restorative Justice grounded in NVC, that started in Brazil, and is now used worldwide.
It brings together the three parties to a conflict – those who have acted, those directly impacted and the wider community – within an intentional systemic context, to dialogue as equals. Participants invite each other and attend voluntarily.
The dialogue process used is shared openly with all participants, and guided by a community member. The process ends when actions have been found that bring mutual benefit.
Restorative Circles are facilitated in 3 stages designed to identity the key factors in the conflict, reach agreements on next steps, and evaluate the results. As a circle form, they invite shared power, mutual understanding, self-responsibility and effective action.
The contribution we would enjoy to receive to support Karl and expenses, is $120 for the day. At the same time, I understand Karl supports a gift economy and is thus open to accepting payment in line with community group’s affordability.
Please consult your community as to what funds may be available and call or email me to discuss possible payments. My telephone number is 66847262 and email: email@example.com (mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org) .
