May Newsletter 2013

Dear sun-lovin’ garden’ mullumites,

We have had a lively April with a number of exciting things achieved over the last month. Two of our interns, Anna and Billy held some fun workshops to create mosaic stepping stones for the children’s sensory garden to compliment the creative ‘water garden’ area. Thank you to Anna and Billy for your time and energy over the last month, you have done an amazing job! Before we get into May, here’s some interesting info on a few little fun things…

Home made food dehydrator
You can easily transform fresh fruits and vegetables into healthy foods that are easy to store or
grab on the go with a home made solar dehydrator. Here is a very simple inexpensive home made version using a cardboard box and a storm window.

Herb of the Week- Robert Herb Geranium Robertianum F. Geraniaceae
Herb robert is a supreme, therapeutic herb. Although, very little information is available, on the constituents, this herb’s action is one of the most outstanding herbs that we can use regularly, as an enhancer of the immune system. Research has revealed herb robert is a source of germanium, a valuable element to the body, as it has the ability to make oxygen available to the cells. More oxygen, at cell level, means the body has the opportunity to fight disease by its own powers, and healing can take place quickly…

Please pull it out around your plots and anywhere else you come across it in the gardens and dispose of it properly. Please ask the volunteer supervisor if you’re not sure where to put it.
