Weekly Update 14th-20th JAN 2013
Dear Mullum Garden Lovers,
Here is your weekly update for this week (January 21st -27th).
Letter from Pippy- Our Volunteer Coordinator
We have had a wonderful start to the New Year with a couple of workshops already and bountiful feasts on Tuesdays Volunteer Day. The Bee workshop on Sunday was buzzing and Dirt Club on Wednesdays is going gangbusters. We are looking forward to year full of interesting workshops and activities. So stay posted to get the news first from the newsletter.
I am in the process of implementing new communication streams. We now have a big purple diary in the office that is the current communication book. I am asking everyone (especially pod leaders) to write jobs that you need done and other important communication events in the book. I will be at the garden Tuesdays and Saturdays and I will be checking the book on those days when we have lots of willing hands looking for things to do. o help coordinate volunteers and answer any inquiries. You all know I a love a good chat.
I am also in the process of researching and defining best practise for volunteers and facilitators in workshops and other events at the garden. All the updated government requirements are in the filing cabinet in the office and include information, such as, police checks for working with the seniors and children, OH&S standards. This will give us a foundation for developing comprehensive programs for all ages. I will run an information session in a few weeks and I am researching a first aid course for volunteers.
Do not worry the fun will not be lost. Jeanette coined a new phrase for coming year “We Reap What We Sow’ so lets sow love, community, happiness and prosperity, as well darn good tucker.
I want to thank all the volunteers who make the garden the wonderful place it is and bring so much dedication love and joy with them to the garden everyday. I am learning so much!! I am sure that by the end of the year I will have so much knowledge my mind will physically expand. I feel very blessed to be meeting and hanging out with so many amazing people, you make the difference, A BIG THANKYOU.
I hope to see you soon in the garden,
