What’s happening for the Mullum Food Festival this October? How can you get involved?
Dear Mullum Gardens friends, volunteers and members,
The run up to the Living Food Living Soil festival is going smoothly and Sainttina the festival coordinator has been having festival meetings with some dynamic groups.
The site crew so far consists of;
* the permaculture pod;
* the children’s pod;
* and chook palace.
Some of them have been meeting regularly, and now we are getting together a performance group, and a fundraising team to act on fundraising strategies. We are also calling in teams of volunteers, from the gardens and from the larger community.
Sainttina is on site Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11am, and the groups usually meet then. ‘Living in a living world’ is the theme, and as part of that interactive feeling we are looking for presentations that are inclusive and interactive. This has been one of the main themes of meeting discussions at the gardens.
We need help, so here is the list of projects, (and we need it over the next 2 1/2 weeks). There is a lot of fun to be had with most of these projects, and there could be something you would really enjoy…Plus there is room for including new ideas.
* Making Bamboo Structures: a children’s tunnel, shade cloths, flags
* Painting: signage, information boards, mural
* Food Prep: Recipes for food and drinks; sourcing ingredients, preparing food and drinks, propagation.
* Building beds and other infrastructure. We have materials on site and a budget we can use to invest in longer term projects, projects that could be part of the interactive demonstrations on festival day.
* Children’s supervision, safety and activities. Making up games and activities, clear boundaries, risk assesment
* Resourcing materials from the community. Tip runs, collecting donations etc.
Are you presenting something or having an info stall? (or is there someone you would like to hear from)…?
If so, please get in touch, it is in less than three weeks, we need to hear from you soon! 🙂
To help ease this process we need to get our communications open and working well. That means talking to each other, …and we are updating email lists and our facebook presence and using them for planning. Please stay tuned x if you can x
If you would like to be involved, and you can bring a friend then do.
That way it’s more fun getting stuff done, and way easier.
Please contact Sainttina on 0402170846, email@example.com (mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org) , facebook – ‘Sainttina’.
